How We Work: Investigative Method and Reporting in Latin America
Every ISSLA RISK investigation in Latin America follows the same discipline: a confidential intake, a scope agreed before work begins, local enquiries and analysis, and a report that states what could not be verified.
From first message to final report
-
Confidential intake
Tell us the subject, the decision, the jurisdictions, the deadline and the questions that matter. We assess lawful purpose, conflicts, feasibility and any need for a confidentiality agreement before confirming an engagement.
-
Scope and proposal
We specify tasks, sources, geography, deliverables, timing, fees and exclusions. Where official fees or local access are uncertain, we identify the assumption and approval point.
-
Research and enquiries
Depending on the mandate, we use open records, registered-access sources, paid databases, local document retrieval, human source enquiries and field verification. The report identifies methods in terms compatible with source protection and legal restrictions.
-
Analysis and challenge
Analysts compare claims, test material discrepancies and separate documented facts from indications and inference. An evidence matrix or relationship map may be used where it helps the client inspect the conclusion.
-
Reporting
The report answers the agreed questions, cites or identifies its evidential basis as appropriate, gives dates and jurisdictional scope, and states what could not be verified. We can propose targeted follow-up work when the remaining uncertainty matters to the decision.
How an investigation in Latin America is scoped
Scope depends on jurisdiction, because access to registers, court files and sources differs by country. We confirm what can lawfully be reached, state the assumptions where official fees or local access are uncertain, and agree deliverables and timing before work begins.
You receive a written report that answers the agreed questions, separates documented facts from indications and inference, and states what could not be verified.
Evidence first. Judgment where it is needed.
We frame the investigative question, select appropriate sources, test important claims through independent channels where feasible and explain the limits of what we found. We do not treat a database result as a complete risk assessment or a single source account as established fact.

Human judgment
AI tools may support internal organisation or analysis under appropriate controls; they do not replace source verification or analyst accountability.
Start with the question.
We review each enquiry for lawful purpose, conflicts and practical feasibility before proposing a scope.
